Willemstad, Curacao – On Friday, April 24, Curaçao Ports Authority N.V. (CPA) renewed its agreement with Van Oord Marine Ingenuity (Van Oord). The renewed agreement is a modernized version of the previous one, which reflects the responsible manner in which CPA is managing commercial developments within the ports of Curaçao.VanOordAgreement

Van Oord has operated a regional support marine construction unit within the Schottegat area since 2003. As the developer of the ports of Curaçao, CPA continuously seeks leading maritime companies, such as Van Oord, to establish themselves in our ports, adding value to the island’s maritime industry.

Van Oord is a leading Dutch international contractor with a modern fleet of over one hundred vessels and equipment, specializing in dredging, marine engineering and offshore projects (oil, gas and wind). The company’s expertise ranges from design to execution and it has been involved in such noteworthy projects as Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, the port of Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte 2 expansion, trench dredging and backfilling, numerous wind farm constructions and pipe-lay installations worldwide.

Through Van Oord’s base operations in Curaçao, which has a workforce consisting of 80 percent locals, it will continue working on acquisitions in the region. The renewal of the agreement allows Van Oord to consolidate its base to continue serving the region for many years to come.

“With the renewal of this agreement, CPA secures another quality service provider, fortifying its port cluster,” Humberto de Castro, CPA’s CEO states.
