Port Authority
The Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) manages all ports in Curaçao, ensuring quality nautical services and safety and security in the ports in an environmentally responsible matter. CPA not only leads the development of the maritime sectors but also of properties surrounding the harbors to attract economic activity benefitting the island. CPA upholds both in-house and third-party services in our waters to high quality performance standards ensuring competitive, integrated service offerings to the maritime industry. CPA is a registered ISO-certified service provider. As of July 1, 2004, the Port of Willemstad offers facilities in compliance with the International Ships & Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code of International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Port services provided by the port authority and its subsidiaries include tugboat services, pilotage, vessel traffic control, bridges and ferry operations, training and knowledge management to clients and the port community. Another very important role that falls under the port authority’s responsibilities is enforcing compliance in the harbors of regulations on health, safety, security and the environment. CPA also handles inspection and registration of all local vessels and the issuance of licenses.
