CPA signs Sister Port Agreement with the Port of Miami-Dade

“This Sister Port Agreement contributes to the strategic formula towards the continued development of the ports of Curacao,” said de Castro.

Willemstad, Curacao – In extension to a trade mission to Panama, the Curacao Ports Authority (CPA) management met with representatives of the “Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami-Dade” in Miami, FL, U.S.A, in order to sign a Sister Port Agreement, which represents a cooperation between the ports.

The agreement was signed by Humberto de Castro, chief executive officer at CPA, and Juan Kuryla, port director at Port of Miami-Dade. Furthermore, Raul Manotas, chief commercial officer at CPA, and Nathalie Olijslager, Dutch consul general in Miami, among others witnessed and co-signed the agreement.

The Sister Port Agreement serves to initiate a cooperation that facilitates the exchange of information pertaining to the cargo and cruise industries in each port; historical statistical information; planned seaport infrastructure developments, and general marketing research. In addition, the agreement stipulates that both ports will study the possibility of joint ventures or other business arrangements, work towards educational exchange visits, promote the relationship and advantages of doing business at the Sister Seaports, and consider their participation in a Sister Seaports Convention; all aimed  at  increasing cruise and cargo traffic at both ports.
