Palm, together with the work group he created, presented his vision on the expansion of the mega pier area during a press conference on Thursday, July 10, 2014. This project is essential for the growth of the cruise tourism sector, a sector with a substantial economic impact, as indicated by Minister Palm.
Aside from the recreational area, the development includes an additional Mega Pier, thus increasing the port capacity, especially during the high season. A central aspect in Minister Palm’s vision is that the development of this area must also benefit the local people, and that is exactly what this concept stands for.
Now land survey and depth measurements have to be done, followed by a soil survey which is necessary in view of the construction of pillars for the pier. Finally, Minister Palm remarks that Rif Seaport Curaçao will become a reality, an experience with added value for our visitors and the business community. A place where the Curaçao people can also enjoy themselves and which will bring more employment and opportunities for our local companies.
