Royal Caribbean’s newest ship Odyssey of the Seas visits Curaçao

The Odyssey of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's newest ship. It was finished last year and is now sailing with passengers on board for the very first time.The ship departed from the port of Fort Lauderdale last Saturday July 31st, spent two days at sea, visited Aruba yesterday and docked at Curaçao’s Mega Pier Tula at 7 AM this morning. After two more days at sea to visit Cococay in the Bahamas, the ship will be back in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday August 8.
As is always the case with a maiden call (the first time that a cruise ship visits our island), the captain and other representatives of the ship will exchange a commemorative plaque during an inaugural ceremony. This has taken place today, together with Minister of Economic Development Ruthmilda Larmonie, Curaçao Ports Authority managing director Humberto de Castro, the ship’s agent Maduro Shipping, represented by its managing director Albert Elens, and Curaçao Tourist Board CEO Paul Pennicook.
Odyssey of the Seas has 1,414 cruise passengers and 1,427 crew members on board. The ship has a total tonnage of 168,666 and a length of 348 meters, and belongs to the ‘Quantum Ultra’ class.
Since 2017, when Mega Pier Tula was built, this is the first time that a cruise ship of this size berths at this pier, which was specifically built to accommodate ships of this magnitude.
